Children's Dance
Creative Dance for Children classes for Spring Session 2 will be offered by the Department of Dance beginning March 31, 2012.
The 7-week session will culminate with an informal showing May 12. Kate Kuper and co-teachers Ashley Cizmar and Lauren Vermillion teach all classes, assisted by students from the Department of Dance.
All classes meet weekly on Saturday morning at the Dance Studio Building (905 West Nevada). Classes are for children ages 4-5 and 8-10 ( 6-7 class is full). The age 4-5 class will introduce and build upon concepts of dance and dance making taught through music, words, props, poems and stories. The age 8-10 class will place greater emphasis on modern dance technique as well as improvisation and dance making.
Appropriate dress is hair off the face, loose-fitting, comfortable clothes and bare feet. The last day of the session will be informal showings for parents and families. The other sessions will be closed to observation. Parents may enjoy visiting Café Paradiso on the corner of Lincoln and Nevada or spending time in the family-friendly environment of Christopher Hall across the street from the studio, which opens at 9am.
